Prenat CI
This sustained-release capsule is a combined preparation of carbonyl iron, folic acid and zinc sulfate monohydrate. Contains carbonyl iron, the iron content is not less than 98%. Carboxylic iron has high bioavailability and low toxicity, making it a safer and more effective iron supplement option.

Interactions of Prenat CI
Carbonyl iron reduces the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics, levodopa, levothyroxine, methyldopa, and penicillamine. Folic acid interacts with antiepileptic drugs, so the plasma concentrations of phenobarbital, phenytoin, and primidone may decrease.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated for patients known to be allergic to any of its ingredients or iron overload.
Side Effects of Prenat CI
There may be gastrointestinal irritation such as nausea, anorexia, vomiting, malaise, constipation, and diarrhea. Patients may complain of dark stools. Carbonyl iron pills added to the capsule can reduce the chance of gastrointestinal irritation. There are very few allergic reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation
If possible, avoid any medication during the first trimester of pregnancy. Therefore, taking iron in the first trimester requires definite evidence of iron deficiency. When the diet is insufficient and zinc and folic acid supplements are needed, iron deficiency prevention needs to be carried out during the rest of the pregnancy.
Precautions & Warnings
Patients with iron overload conditions such as hemochromatosis, hemolytic anemia, or red blood cell aplasia should be especially careful. Treatment failure requires further investigation to rule out other causes of anemia. In patients with renal failure, there may be a risk of zinc accumulation.
