Miki-H 10
Miconazole is a substituted imidazole, belonging to the family of azoles useful in the treatment of superficial candidiasis and skin infections, tinea versicolor and tinea versicolor, acanthameaba, seborrheic dermatitis. Also active against Aspergillus spp., Cryptococcus neoformans, Pseudalescheria boydii and some gram-positive bacteria including Staphylococci and Streptococci.
Hydrocortisone is a natural glucocorticoid, currently prepared synthetically. Its important function is in skin lesions such as inflammation. It also has antipruritic, antispasmodic and vasoconstrictor activity.
Miconazole is an imidazole antifungal agent which interferes with the synthesis of ergosterol and thus modifies the permeability of cell membranes of susceptible fungi. Thus causing the destruction of the fungus, when applied to the skin, hydrocortisone will be absorbed into the skin cells. It blocks the release of certain chemicals, which are responsible for inflammation. Thus, hydrocortisone reduces inflammation.
